Golden Trails: Discovering the Canadian Maritimes (Part I)

Updated: Oct 17

Ah, fall travel—it’s that sweet spot we just can't resist. There’s something about the season that draws us in, and the Canadian Maritimes are the perfect stage for our autumn adventure.

First off, traveling during fall means fewer crowds, which we absolutely love. Gone are the bustling, summer-packed streets. Instead, we get to wander through quieter, more peaceful towns, taking in the sights at our own pace. They become intimate, almost like they’re inviting us to explore their hidden corners.

And then there’s the color. Fall puts on a vivid show, with the trees turning into a kaleidoscope of fiery reds, brilliant oranges, and golden yellows. It’s like nature’s grand finale, and we get front-row seats. The dramatic landscape, framed by those breathtaking hues, feel like something out of a dream. Every bend in the road, every scenic lookout promises a postcard-worthy view that we can’t wait to capture.

Our journey, starting in Quebec city, winds through Saguenay, Charlottetown, Sydney, and Halifax. As first-time visitors, there's this buzz of excitement running through everything—from exploring each town to dreaming of the incredible fall landscapes awaiting us.

And let’s not forget the food! There's something special about local fare when the chill of fall sets in. From staples like poutine, to trying the Caesar cocktail, to fresh seafood—lobster rolls and mussels, anyone?—to cozying up with a bowl of chowder, this trip promises to be a culinary delight.

But what really makes fall travel special for us is the shift in pace. There’s a quieting down after the frenzy of summer. The air feels crisper, the sunsets linger longer, and there’s a calmness that seeps into everything. It’s like the world is exhaling, inviting us to slow down too. It’s the perfect time to soak in every moment without the rush, to savor that cider or take a lazy stroll through the old town of a quaint coastal village.

The vibe of fall in these parts is something else, too. There's a coziness, a sense of slowing down, yet the energy of the season still lingers in the air. People seem to be settling into the rhythm of autumn, but there's also a palpable excitement—like we're about to witness the grand finale before winter sweeps in.

There’s a bit of everything waiting for us—stunning scenery, delicious eats, and that irresistible fall vibe. Watch for updates and tales as we let the magic of the Maritimes pull us in!
